Research at the Nutrition, Health Behavior and Obesity Research Lab focuses on obesity as a multifactorial, chronic disease across the life course. Our work integrates nutritional, metabolic, psychological, behavioral, and public health perspectives, with strong emphasis on patient-centered outcomes, real-world clinical relevance, and theory-informed intervention development.
A series of retrospective and prospective cohort studies examining weight loss trajectories, recurrent weight gain, lifestyle behaviors, and metabolic, and nutritional health outcomes up to 15 years following metabolic bariatric surgery. Conducted at Hadassah–Ein Kerem Medical Center in collaboration with the bariatric surgery clinic.
A multicenter randomized controlled trial evaluating the effects of protein supplementation and resistance training on body composition, functional parameters, metabolic adaptation, and nitrogen balance in adults with overweight/obesity treated with weekly semaglutide (Wegovy®). Conducted in collaboration with Ariel University, Ichilov and Assuta Medical Centers in Tel Aviv.
A Multi-phase, mixed-methods research program focused on the co-development of a lifestyle intervention to support medication-based obesity treatment. The program includes surveys of patients and clinicians, as well as qualitative interviews, to inform the development of an adjunct behavioral intervention to accompany incretin-based OMMs.
A theory-informed behavioral intervention designed to support engagement with healthy lifestyle behaviors following metabolic bariatric surgery. The project focuses on behavioral adherence, patient engagement, and functional recovery in the post-surgical period, among at risk populations. Conducted at Hadassah–Ein Kerem Medical Center in collaboration with the bariatric surgery clinic.
